Eng Case: 3D Printed Gear Phone Case

Phone case designs with working gears, that demonstrate mechanical principles. Designed for iPhone 4/4s/5/5s.

With the flexibility of 3D printing, I was able to make varies designs without worrying about the huge initial cost of moulding. Eng Case designs are comfortable in your hand, and fun to play with. You will find yourself spinning the gears while loading apps, and showing your awesome case every time you see a friend.

My different designs and design process:

 Design 1

Best looking design, with a gear rack on the side that motivates the gears. Sliding the gear rack will become your habit when loading apps.

Design 2

A reversed engine design. This design transforms a circular motion into a linear motion. Its fun to see these tags going up and down.

Design 3

Not just rotating gears, but moving gears! A design with most gears and moving parts that rotate around the centre.

Other Fetures

  • Glow in the dark!

All the gears and tags were printed with glow in the dark material. Glow in the dark material does not re-emit the radiation it absorbs immediately, instead radiation is re-emitted at a lower intensity for a long period of time after being charged with a bright light.

  • Tags can be easily customized
  • 3D printed!

I already have few machines ready, will build more if necessary. All these machines are from Mixshop.com, with 0.3mm nozzle diameter(smallest nozzle size out here). I will ensure the best printing quality for every single case. I will try to get all cases printed within two months of the end of this campaign.

  • Professional packaging box, a nice GIFT!
